Our clients are 100% foreign affiliated companies.
■What kind of office is it?
Our office is a tax accountant's office located in Meguro-ku, Tokyo. We
support Inbound's business development in Japan for foreign corporations.
■Who are our clients?
Many of our clients have been with us since their company was established in Japan. Some have been with us for over 20 years since our firm was founded.
Their parent companies are located in countries such as Germany, the United
States, Australia, the United Kingdom, France, India, Singapore, and the
United Arab Emirates etc. 100% are foreign customers.
The industries are diverse, including software development, manufacturing, sales, and mining.
■What kind of consultations do you often receive before setting up a base
in Japan?
We often ask questions such as whether a subsidiary or a branch is better for a business base, and which is better: a joint stock company or a limited liability company (what are the advantages and disadvantages)? At that stage, we often provide explanations to the tax department in the parent company's home country, taking into account tax issues in that country.
You may also be asked about the differences in labour laws between your home country and Japan regarding the employment status of the employees you hire. In such cases, we ask our affiliated social insurance and labour consultant who can speak English to provide consultation.
We initially address corporate law issues related to the form of business in Japan (subsidiary, branch, or representative office), and employee labour law issues of Japanese staff, but ultimately provide overall tax advice for foreign corporations expanding into Japan.
■What kind of requests do you receive most after starting business in Japan?
・We provide the monthly financial report to be submitted in English in the company's format by the beginning of the following month.
・Since our clients are unable to hire someone specialising in accounting.
We will handle jobs (accounting records, payment processing, pre-applications,
and post-reports to the controller in the home country) in English.
